Our insulated telescoping lid and inner cover sets are handcrafted with select 3/4” pine and 1/4” plywood. Insulated telescoping lids are covered with white PVC coated aluminum attached with stainless steel staples for rust-free service. 1” foam insulation board is sandwiched between the aluminum cover and the plywood to insulate the roof of the hive. Upper insulation is a fantastic idea for overwintering and we think can also help your bees regulate the temperature of the hive a little easier all year long. Inner covers have a 71mm hole in the center perfect for jar feeders.
Both pieces use rabbeted joints assembled with Titebond III and medium crown staples on the lids and narrow crown staples on the inner covers.
