Long langstroth hives have a lot of material and labor so are built to order. Total price is $600, $200 deposit paid now and the balance of $400 due at pickup.
Our long langstroth hives are fantastic for housing a couple of colonies, splitting and overwintering nucs and also queen rearing and use standard deep langstroth frames. Shown in the pictures is the hive configured for queen rearing with eight 3 frame sections and an extra 2 frame section. It can also be configured to house six 5 frame colonies, two 17 frame colonies or any combination in between. Hive body is made from 2x pine for 1.5” thick walls, closer to mimicking thicker tree cavities, and roof is insulated with 2” of insulation board and ends of roof have 1” of insulation. The combination of thicker hive walls and an insulated roof will help the bees regulate temperature better and the housing of multiple colonies in one hive helps them share warmth and get through winter a little easier, it’s really a nice setup ideal for overwintering nucs and other things as well. Quart jars easily fit under the roof for syrup feeding
Expect about a two week lead time after paying the deposit. Hive shown in picture did not have entrances drilled as customer wanted to drill themselves after determining final configuration but entrance holes can certainly be drilled to your specs. Hive will come with one set of covers cut to spec for your desired configuration (can also be drilled for jar feeders), and up to eight dividers. No frames are included but are available for purchase separately. Long langstroth hives are sold for local pickup only, they are not economical to ship.
